Kia models we make keys for include: Forte, K5, Optima, Sorento, Sportage, Soul, Telluride, Seltos, Carnival, Sedona — and more. Tell us the year and model and we confirm.
Kia keys we make
- Flip keys — folding blade with lock, unlock and trunk buttons, standard on many turn-key Forte, Optima, Sorento, Sportage and Soul models.
- Transponder and cut-only keys — for older Kias and for turn-key models built without an immobilizer chip.
- Smart keys (push-to-start) — on many newer K5, Sorento, Sportage, Telluride, Seltos and Carnival trims.
- Emergency key blades that pull out of the smart key, cut to your door lock for when the fob battery dies.
Common Kia key calls
One key for a family SUV. A Sorento, Telluride or Carnival often has several drivers and one key. Adding a spare while you still have a working key is the quickest and least expensive job.
Smart key stops working. Kia fobs that ride in a pocket all day wear out, crack, or lose their battery. We test the fob and program a new one if the old one can't be saved.
Broken or stolen ignition. Some turn-key Kias without an immobilizer have been targeted by thieves who damage the ignition. On many models we can repair or replace the ignition cylinder and make new keys to match — see ignition repair.
Why not the Kia dealer?
A Kia dealer can make a key, but with no working key you'll usually need a tow, an appointment and sometimes several days for a key to arrive. For most models we cut and program the key where the car sits, in one visit — often for about half the dealer's price. If your model is one that only the dealer can do, we say so before we send anyone.
