When to rekey
- You just bought or moved into a home. You don't know how many copies of the old keys are out there — previous owners, contractors, dog walkers, neighbors.
- A lease starts or ends. Former tenants and roommates keep copies more often than they admit.
- A key was lost or stolen — especially with an address on the key ring.
- You want one key for the front door, back door and garage instead of three.
How much it costs
Rekeying starts at $59 per lock. Deadbolts and knob locks on the same door each count as a lock. Tell us how many locks you have and the brand, if you know it, and we'll give you the total on the phone.
Rentals near campus
Around UF, a lot of apartments and houses are rented by the bedroom and change tenants every August. For landlords and property managers, rekeying between tenants is quick and costs less than replacing locks every year. We can rekey the unit, key the front door and deadbolt alike, and cut the number of keys you need.
Rekey or replace?
If a lock is worn, sticks, or the door won't latch, rekeying won't fix it — then we repair or replace the lock instead. New deadbolts and smart locks start at $79 labor, with the lock priced separately. We'll tell you which option makes sense before we start.
